Patrick Murphy began his first term as the Second Vice President in January 2009. Smith is in his 11th season as head coach at the University of Alabama.

Among the Southeastern Conference powers, Murphy has guided UA to 10 straight NCAA regional tournament berths. Under Murphy, the Tide has appeared five times in the Women's College World Series, including the 2008 event.
