Kansas City, Mo. - Emma Burns of Mount Marty (S.D.) and Cheyenne Strong of Tennessee Wesleyan were named NAIA Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played March 28-April 3.
Burns hit four long balls and slugged 1.909 in four games last week for Mount Marty (S.D.). The junior hit .727 (8-for-11), drove in 11 runs and scored six times.
Strong recorded two five-inning no-hitters, one of which was a perfect game. Over the course of the week, the senior fanned 22 batters in 16 innings of work with three wins and a save to her credit. She struck out nine and set down all 15 batters she faced in her perfecto against St. Andrews.
Student-athletes were nominated for their performances and were selected out of a pool of conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) award winners.
