Softball Camps

It's no secret camps are an integral part of the softball playing experience, and the recruiting ecosystem. Camps are an efficient way to play amongst your peers and competitors, learn from different coaches with different philosophies, and for some camps, to be seen in front of college coaches looking to add to their future rosters. Every camp experience is unique, and that includes the NFCA's camps, which provide an opportunity for both players and coaches to benefit.

The NFCA's Camp History

The NFCA has hosted camps for decades. Our camps actually started as a way for us to provide another benefit to our coach members - because as you may know camps can vary in size, efficiency, and productivity - and we knew if we could run a reputable and efficient camp, our member coaches would follow.

Behind-the-Scenes

Did you know the NFCA drives to every camp we host and we also bring most of the camp equipment with us, too?! We have an entire room at headquarters deemed "the camp closet" which is full of buckets of balls, nets, tees, and more, all ready and waiting for camp season (and many other events, too). Jamie Hazel, our camp expert, creates specific packing lists for each camp (and event) so we can be as prepared as possible on-site. We then have "packing days" where everything is placed out and organized in our office's "big room." Once all items are accounted for, it's time to load up the trailer, which includes an NFCA staple "bucket assembly line" - where all team members space out between the camp closet and the trailer and pass buckets one-by-one across the line as they get stacked into the trailer! The NFCA team members who attend each camp rotates each year, but it's always a team effort to get the trailer ready to go (and unloaded).

Fun Fact: Did you know the NFCA brings 108 ball buckets to our Atlanta Legacy camp??

What is an EXCEL camp?

EXCEL camps offer individualized instruction, and players also have the opportunity to select the defensive position of their choice during instruction. During this intense camp and unique learning opportunity, the afternoon is filled with competitive games and on-field live action - putting the drills and instruction from the morning into play! Instruction for offense, defense, and the live games are 100% run by collegiate coaches of all levels, and even more coaches recruit student-athletes from the stands.

What makes NFCA camps unique?

There are quite a few reasons we believe NFCA camps are a worthwhile experience for student-athletes, parents and coaches alike.

  • As previously mentioned, we are a coaches association first and foremost. We have a direct line of feedback from the coaches who attend and participate in our camps, meaning we are constantly learning and evolving camp to make it the best possible experience for all involved.
  • And because of our coach ties, we are able to bring in some of the best coaches in the game to help us run camps, along with providing them reputable opportunities to scout.
  • Both items above lead us to our favorite note about NFCA camps, there are drills and ideas and brainstorming galore. Our camp instructors are coaches through and through and there will be instruction and advice from our coaches every step of the way.
  • Did you know many of our Tip TuesdaysTip Tuesdays have come from camp?!

If you haven't registered for an NFCA camp before, our 2024 lineup is now live! We'd love to have you join us. Happy camping!
