The current head coach at Deer Park H.S. in Texas, Carrie Austgen is entering her second term as the NFCA High School Representative. A four-year softball letterwinner at Texas A&M, Austgen was part of the 1983 National Championship team with the Aggies and was named an all-region shortstop at the conclusion of the season.

From July of 1996 through July of 2003, she served as the San Jacinto College head softball coach. Over her eight-year career, she built a winning program with a cumulative record of 272-142-7 and guided teams to regional championships in 1998 & 1999 and won three conference championships from 1998-2000.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Austgen has been involved in major women’s fastpitch softball teams since 1985, compiling a coaching record of 534-322 with Illinois and Texas.

She received her Master of Arts in May 1997 from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Austgen earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a minor in psychology from Texas A&M University in December of 1983.
