INFO & APPLICATION >
Historic San Antonio To Host 30th Annual NFCA National Convention
The hotel features its own health club with cardiovascular equipment, free weights and state of the art life fitness equipment and cardio screens. There’s also an indoor/outdoor pool. NFCA members who make their reservations in the NFCA block will receive complimentary high speed internet, and discounted daily parking rates ($8 a day). The San Antonio International Airport is located just eight minutes from the hotel, so rental cars are not necessary.
But, what you’re really going for is the national convention, and the Marriott and nearby Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center also has great space for the key components of the convention— clinic and caucus sessions, exhibitor show and networking. The golf and tennis tournaments will be held Tuesday, December 3. A four-hour preconvention will be held Wednesday morning, December 4, followed by committee meetings, the general session with a keynote speaker and the opening reception. Speakers are being selected now and will be announced this summer.
It also will be the 12th year that National Fastptich Coaches College sessions will be held in conjunction with the convention, and three are scheduled:
December 2-3: Course 402 – Advanced Analysis of Hitting, Pitching & Short-Game Skills with Kirk Walker, UCLA; Don Slaught, former MLB player, coach and current president of RightView, and Lori Sippel, University of Nebraska.
December 2-3: Course 403 – Position Play and Individual Defensive Skills, headed up by Bill Edwards, Hofstra University.
December 7-9: Course 404 — Solid Team Defense & Strategy, with instructors Heather Tarr, University of Washington, and Kelly Inouye-Perez, UCLA.
There are on-field components for all the classes, and those sections will be held at the University of Texas, San Antonio, with transportation provided to and from the hotel to the site.
