National Fastpitch Coaches Association Honors

 Louisville Slugger All-Americans

Overview: The NFCA selects All-American teams in seven of its membership categories: high school, NJCAA, Cal JC, NAIA, and NCAA Divisions III, II and I. All-American committees are selected by the specific membership classifications and these committees coordinate the nomination, balloting and selection process of all-region teams, followed by All-American selection (Cal JC selects All-American teams only). Timeline: Nomination forms are mailed in April, with the entire process finished in May (July for high school All-Americans). Look for specific deadlines in a future issue of Fastpitch Delivery. NFCA Contact: Staci Hatz, Director of Membership Services, 573/875-3033.

Speedline Coaches of the Year

Overview: Regional and national coaches of the year are selected by the respective membership classification. Regional coach balloting is handled by the All-American committee, with national coach of the year ballots sent out by the NFCA national office (all high school ballots are prepared by the NFCA office). Once the regional coaches of the year are selected, they are included on the national ballot. Cal JC selects a national coach of the year only. Timeline: Ballots are mailed in May, with regional selection completed in June (high school selection takes place in the fall). NFCA Contact: Ann Tuttle, NFCA Director of Media Relations, 573/875-3033.

Easton Victory Club

Overview: NFCA member coaches complete the Easton Victory Club form after their season, reporting their won-lost record for the season and their career. Coaches who reach a winning plateau (100 wins, 200 wins, etc.,), will be honored at the Easton Victory Club reception at the NFCA National Convention. Timeline: Forms are mailed in May from the NFCA office. They are due back by October 1. NFCA Contact: Ann Tuttle, NFCA Director of Media Relations, 573/875-3033.

Scholar-Athlete and Top 10 Teams

Overview: The NFCA names the top 10 academic teams in each educational membership classification (Cal JC and NJCAA are combined). It also honors players with grade point averages of 3.5 or above. Timeline: Forms are mailed from the NFCA in July, with a due date of September 19. Winners are announced in the second September issue of Fastpitch Delivery. NFCA Contact: Staci Hatz, Director of Membership Services, 573/875-3033.

Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year

Overview: The top catchers in the seven educationally-based membership categories are honored with a Catcher of the Year Award. Award winners are selected by the NFCA Awards and Hall of Fame Committee, based on athletic performance, academics and community service. Coaches of the winning athletes will be presented awards at the NFCA Convention. Timeline: Forms are mailed in May, and are due back in June (in 1998, however, the process may be moved earlier in the year, and the selection duties tranferred to the All-Åmerican committees). NFCA Contact: Staci Hatz, Director of Membership Services, 573/875-3033.

MLB Players Alumni Association Top Senior Pitcher

Overview: The NFCA and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association name a Senior Pitcher of the Year each season, with the winner honored at the MLB Alumni Association's Old Timers game in St. Petersburg, Florida.
