View the NFCA's Simulated RPI

A week after being dropped from the top spot, Arizona climbed back to the No. 1 position in this week’s NFCA Simulated Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) compiled by mathematician Warren Nolan.

The Bruins fell back to the second spot, while Texas and Alabama remained Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Arizona State came in fifth this week, followed by Northwestern in sixth and Pac-10 foe Oregon State in the seven spot. A pair of SEC squad round out the top 10 as Tennessee and Georgia rank eighth and 10th respectively to sandwich Michigan.

The Pac-10 remains the top RPI conference, with the SEC following in second. The ACC remains third, while the Big XII holds the fourth position. The Big Ten rounds out the top five conferences in this week’s ratings.

The Wildcats top the strength of schedule rankings in addition to the RPI, while UCLA comes in second. Arizona State moved to third in the toughest schedule category, bumping conference foe Oregon to fourth. Washington gives the Pac-10 a sweep of the top five most difficult schedules, coming in fifth ahead of Michigan.

Oregon State, Northwestern, Arkansas and Stanford round out the top 10 in strength of schedule.
