Alabama's Woods Takes Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of Week Honors

Alabama sophomore first baseman Dani Woods has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week, the association announced Wednesday.

Woods played an integral role in helping fourth-ranked Alabama win its first SEC championship, She hit .500 in a series sweep of Arkansas, knocking two doubles and driving in six runs while scoring three more runs.

She was stellar in the clutch for Alabama, hitting .800 (4-for-5) with runners in scoring position and 4-for-6 (.667) with four runs in two-out scenarios. Woods tied the opening game of the set, and she followed in the second game by driving in the conference title-clinching runs.

The Cockeysville, Md., native was also perfect in the field, registering 25 putouts on a 1.000 fielding percentage.
