During his career with Heartbreakers Red, Burdette has coached 30 players who went on to the collegiate level. His 2000 squad finished second at the PONY national championship tournament, and his 2002 edition claimed ninth-place honors at the ASA 18U A national tournament. Burdette holds a 407-205 career coaching record.

A member of the association since 1995, he also conducts clinics in Maryland and Virginia.

In addition to his Heartbreakers coaching duties, he also assisted the program at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md., during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. From 1999-2002 he served as assistant coach at Walkersville High School, winning a Maryland 2A state title in his first season.

Burdette and his wife Barbara live in Frederick and have six children.
