Consensus No. 1 Palomar College and fifth-ranked Shasta College each led the way in their respective divisions as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA 2005 Cal JC All-America teams were announced Monday by the association.

Freshman infielder Jamee Avii, Palomar's top slugger most of the season, was named to the All-America squad after finishing the regular season with a Cal JC second-best .664 batting average. Teammates Megan Smith and Amber Alexander joined Avii on the South division squad.

Shasta placed two on the North division squad, led by pitcher Ashley Thatcher who won a Cal JC-best 28 games for the Knights this season. Infielder Christine Schuler was also named to the elite squad.

Santa Barbara City infielder Nicole Bouchereau was honored after a stellar offensive season. Bouchereau hit .612 this season and had six home runs, tying her for second in the league.

Taft College and West Valley College also placed two players each on the North division team. Pikake Nutter-Gaudet hit .411 for Taft this season and was named the Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year for the league. Alexis San Nicholas also represented the Cougars.

Head coach Sandi Taylor and her Bakersfield College staff were named the 2005 Cal JC Coaching Staff of the Year. The Lady Gades finished the season with a 20-3 record in the Western State Conference Blue.
