Caldwell's Jackson Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week

Caldwell outfielder Katie Jackson has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week for the week of April 18-24, it was announced by the association on Wednesday.

Jackson, a junior from Pennsville, N.J., went 12-for-17 (.706) in eight games last week for the Cougars. She also scored seven runs, hit two home runs and delivered five RBIs on the week.

Both home runs came in a doubleheader against Queens, including a game-tying long ball in the bottom of the seventh of Caldwell's 2-1, eight-inning conference win.

"Katie had a great week at the plate and in right field," said Caldwell head coach Dean Johnson. " We played two regionally ranked teams and Katie was clutch. Her one out solo HR against Queens in the bottom of the 7th that tied the game at 1-1 was a huge hit. She is playing at a very high level right now and we are
counting on her to lead us the rest of the way."

Jackson now has a career-best four home runs on the season, tying her for the team lead, Currently riding a six-game hitting streak, Jackson has hit safely in 12 of her last 13 games, raising her batting average 95 points to .360.
