Lewis University's Martz Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week

 

Lewis University outfielder Robin Martz has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week for the week of March 28-April 3, it was announced by the association on Wednesday. 

Martz, a junior from Lanark, Ill., batted .818 (9-for-11) last week and had an on-base percentage of .867 in four conference road victories. She also scored eight runs, drove in four RBIs, walked three times and stole five bases. Her week included a pair of 3-for-3 games. 

In addition, she broke Lewis' all-time career stolen base with her second steal in the first game of a doubleheader with Quincy. The steal, her 50th of her caeer, broke Katie Schaefer's (2000-03) previous career mark of 49. 

Martz went 5-for-6 in a doubleheader sweep of Missouri-St. Louis and had four runs and two RBIs. Against Quincy, she was 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs. 

Martz, who tied the Division II record with a 35-game hitting streak last season, has hit safely in each of her last 18 games.
