The National Fastpitch Coaches College will continue its 2004-05 course schedule in Columbus, Ohio, as The Ohio State University hosts Course 403 - Position Play and Practice.

One of just six Division I schools and the lone Big Ten school to be selected, Ohio State will be hosting its first NFCC course. The course will take place Nov. 12-14 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on the Columbus campus.

Participants enrolled in the course will examine the factors that must be considered when teaching softball skills, as well as motor learning theory and principles.

In addition, the course will cover practice planning, position-by-position drills, discussion of techniques by position, situational charts, defensive rules and how to understand success and failure cycles.

The instructors for the course include John Tschida, head coach of the Division III national champions St. Thomas (Minn.), Bill Edwards, head coach at Hofstra and Mississippi State head coach Jay Miller.

The cost of the three-day course is $225 for NFCA members and $250 for non-NFCA members. Participants can save $25 by registering at least 14 days in advance. For more information, coaches can contact the NFCA at 662/320-2155 or Buckeye head coach Linda Kalafatis at 614/292-0856
