Louisville Slugger/NFCA NAIA All-America Teams Announced

Thirty-two players have been named to the 2004 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NAIA All-America first and second teams. The awards were announced Monday, with both teams being selected by NFCA-member NAIA coaching representatives, based on nominations from the 2004 season. 

National champion Thomas University (Ga.) had five players named All-America, led by three first team selections. Pitcher Cathy Andrijasszyn, infielder Yuruby Alicart and designated player Tania Black were each named to the first team. 

Infielder Stephanie Dixon and outfielder Jennifer Byrd joined their Night Hawk teammates as second team selections. 

National runner-up Simon Fraser was also well represented on the NFCA All-America squads. Pitcher Erin Thomas and outfielder Cari Irwin were first team selections while infielder Ali Cavigla was tabbed second team All-America. 

Mobile had four players named to All-America teams, led by three first team selections. Catcher Meredith Tanner, infielder Denisse Feunmayor and at-large member Kirby Baxter were each named to the first team. 

Other first team selections were Houston Baptist pitcher Laura Hess, Columbia (Mo.) catcher Amy Seipp, Oklahoma City infielder Lelys Gomez, Olivet Nazarene infielder Alicia Hammel, Midland Lutheran infielder Traci Bode, Southern Wesleyan outfielder Natalie Roebuck, Scients and Arts (Okla.) utility player Dana Askins and Columbia (Mo.) pitcher Monica Mueller (at-large). 

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association awards more than 300 first, second and third team All-Americans in NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as in NAIA, NJCAA, California Community Colleges, Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges and high school.
