Florida State's van der Linden named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week

Florida State's Jessica van der Linden has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week of March 8-14. 

Van der Linden, who is claiming her second NFCA Player of the Week honors, helped lead Florida State to an 8-0 record last week including wins over Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas A&M at the Florida State Invitational. She was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. 

The Cerritos, Calif., native started three games for the Seminoles, going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA. She struck out 22 batters in 17 innings pitched, issuing only three walks. 

At the plate, van der Linden went 9-for-22 (.409), slugged .591, scored six runs, hit two triples and drove in seven runs. 

"This is a huge honor for me and our program," van der Linden said. "This is important to me because it means that I was successful in helping this team continue to move toward s its goals." 

Florida State improved to 29-3 on the season, and moved up to No. 4 in the latest release of the USA Today/NFCA Top 25. 

On the season, van der Linden is 14-2 with a 0.28 ERA, and is leading the Tribe at the plate with a .380 batting average and 27 RBIs.
