NFCA Announces 2003 Speedline Travel Ball Coaching Staff of the Year

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named the Case Batbusters (CA) head coach Jim Dolan, along with assistants Cliff Murphy and Bob Wenk and manager Dexter Porter as its 2003 Speedline/NFCA Travel Ball Coaching Staff of the Year.

Dolan and his staff led the Santa Ana, Calif.,-based Batbusters to a fifth place finish at the ASA 18-U Gold Nationals in Salem, Oregon, a year removed from a runner-up finish at the 18U nationals.

The Batbusters posted a record of 72-18-10, including a 9-2 mark at the Gold Nationals. They were sent to the loser's bracket in the second game, then proceeded to eliminate eight teams before being eliminated.

Nine players on the team that competed at nationals earned Division I scholarships.

The staff has over 60 years of coaching experience. They have coached six Olympians, including four on the 2004 USA Olympic squad. They have been a part of eight ASA national championship teams.
