NCAA announces Division III Regionals

The NCAA Division III Women's Softball Committee has selected the 48 teams that will participate in the NCAA Division IIISoftball Regionals beginning Friday, May 9.

Five teams will compete at five first-round sites and six teams will compete at three other first-round sites for a total of eight first-round sites. All first-rounds will use a double-elimination format. The eight first-round site winners will advance to the Division III Softball Championships, to be held May 16-20 at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.

Thirty-three conferences have been granted automatic qualification and eight independents were selected for the 2003 championship. The two remaining teams were selected on an at-large basis from automatic qualifying conferences.
