2003 NFCA Recruiting Camp Information

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to service its coaching membership and future collegiate fastpitch softball players by providing the 2003 recruiting camps. The objectives of the camps are:

  • To provide an opportunity for prospective college-bound student-athletes from the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades to be evaluated by college coaches.
  • To provide a learning situation for the student-athletes in college-bound skills, academic importance and requirements, recruiting strategies and procedures, weight-training and conditioning information, and goal-setting.
  • To provide a service to college coaches by providing a showcase of elite prospective student-athletes for the purpose of evaluation.
  • To create a professional recruiting atmosphere for the college coaches and prospective student-athletes.
  • To promote the sport and participants through the marketing of the camps nationally.
  • To provide an efficient and cost-effective recruiting opportunity for the players and college coaches.

Camper Selection Criteria

Prospective campers that meet the first criteria and either No. 2 or No. 3 should complete the nomination form. If student-athletes do not meet No. 2 or No. 3, then it is necessary to obtain three letters of recommendation from opposing coaches.

1. Must have a minimum cumulative academic grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. (Other grading systems should be adjusted and signed by the school counselor.)

2. Have been named to all-state, all-region, all-district, all-county, all-conference and/or all-star softball team.

3. Played on a summer team that participated in a national tournament (ASA, AFA, NSA, USSSA, etc.).

The cost for the NFCA's administered camps is $70; please do not pay with your nomination form. If accepted into the camp, you will be notified and asked to pay then. You will be notified after the deadline (see specific camps for deadlines).

In the event that a camp session does not fill by the specified deadline, the NFCA will allow student-athletes to participate in two sessions, if so wished. Student-athletes who are interested in being considered for admittance to a second session should indicate that wish in the space provided on the nomination form. They will then be placed on a waiting list that reflects their secondary position. Please note that there is no guarantee that a student-athlete will be accepted to a second session.

After the camp deadline is reached and it is determined that a particular session is not full, the NFCA will choose second-session athletes based on their qualifications first, followed by a first-come, first-serve basis. The NFCA will then personally contact the chosen athletes to inform them of this option. An additional $60 will be required for the second session.

If accepted to one of the five NFCA-administered camps, additional information regarding the camp, including hotel information and maps, will be mailed with the registration form. Please contact the NFCA if you have questions or need further assistance:
