Three Teams Still Undefeated After Day Two of Division I Leadoff Classic

COLUMBUS, Ga. – After two full days of play at the 2010 NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic only No. 6 Missouri, No. 9 Alabama and Illinois remain unbeaten.

Alabama took down No. 4 Michigan and Nebraska, while Missouri picked up wins against No. 18 La.-Lafayette and No. 20 Massachusetts. Illinois rounded out the three unbeaten teams with victories against Radford and Virginia Tech.

Massachusetts’ Sara Plourde ended Illinois State’s bid of going undefeated in the classic by tossing a seven-inning no-hitter in the nightcap for both teams.

However, Plourde was not the only pitcher on the day to throw a no-hitter, as Florida State’s Sarah Hamilton threw a seven hitless inning in the Seminoles’ 8-0 romp of previously unbeaten Hofstra.

Georgia Tech’s Jenn Yee led the offensive charge on the day with three homeruns, two against Arkansas and one against La.-Lafayette, as the Yellow Jackets went 2-0 on Saturday.

The classic will conclude on Sunday with 12 games, full stats, recaps, box scores and live stat links for all of tomorrow’s games can be found here.
