NFCA Drill: Hitting (Posted November 15, 2002)

By Ann Bruner

Miami Valley Baseball Academy (Ohio)

Name of Drill: Cross-Hand Drill.

Equipment Needed: Bat, ball, tee.

Explanation of Drill: This drill is simple, but effective. If you have a girl who is rolling over all the time, this drill will help her break this habit.

Line up a tee with a ball. Tell your batter to get in her stance, then take her lower hand on the bat (if she's right-handed, it will be her left hand) and move it above her other hand. Then have her hit the ball off the tee. Having her cross her hands when she swings will prevent her from rolling over.

You can use a pitching machine for this drill if you don't have a tee.
