Missouri added Karrie Rider as an assistant coach. Rider spent last season as an assistant coach at Harvard.

Southern Illinois-Edwardsville athletics director Cindy Jones announced her retirement, effective December 1. She will serve as a consulting athletics director until her retirement. Jones, a member of the NCAA Division II Softball Committee, founded the SIU-Edwardsville softball program in 1975 and served as head coach until she became the school's athletics director in 1988.

Culver-Stockton promoted assistant coach Ed Heller and volunteer assistant coach John Stutsman to co-head softball coaches. Heller has spent the past 10 seasons on the Culver-Stockton coaching staff, including two years (1997-98) as head coach. Stutsman has been a volunteer assistant for the last two seasons. They replace Jim Webb, who accepted a position as director of athletics at Southeast Community College (Ill.).

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi named Thomas McLauchlin assistant softball coach. McLauchlin previous served as an assistant at Oklahoma Baptist.

Stonehill announced the resignation of head softball coach Julie Szala. The school named Pam Arpesoftball coach.

North Carolina State named Lisa Navas as head softball coach. N.C. State will begin fastpitch competition in the spring of 2004. Navas, who served as head coach at Barry for nine years, spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at North Carolina.

Jaye Gaudreau added as an assistant at Oregon. Gaudreau spent the past nine years as an assistant coach at Mississippi State under new Oregon head coach Kathy Arendsen.

Guilford named Jason Gottlieb as head softball coach. Guilford, which sponsored slowpitch softball from 1978-90, will begin fastpitch competition in the spring of 2003.

Karen Lee Matteson hired as head softball coach at Napa Valley. Matteson spent the previous two years as head coach at UNC Greensboro.

Louisiana Tech named Sarah Dawson head softball coach. Dawson has served as an assistant coach for the past three seasons at Louisiana-Monroe, her alma mater.

Stephanie DeFeo selected as head softball coach at UNC Greensboro. DeFeo has spent the past three seasons at East Tennessee State, where she was the school's first-ever head softball coach.

Samford elevated Lee Anne "Beanie" Ketcham to head softball coach. Ketcham has spent the past four years as an assistant at Samford. She replaces Mark Voisard, who resigned in May to accept a job outside of coaching.

Florida State hired Eve Gau as an assistant coach. Gau, a third team All-American and a four-time Pac-10 selection at Washington, has spent the past five years as a softball instructor and a travel ball coach. She also served as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater from 1998-2000.

Roxanne Berch resigned as head softball coach at Cal State San Bernardino after nine seasons. Berch, who was the only part-time head softball coach in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, stepped down in order to concentrate on her full-time position as a mathematics teacher at Colton High School.

Sara Hayes selected as head softball coach at Indiana. Hayes has spent the past two seasons as head coach at Northern Iowa and previously served as an assistant coach at DePaul, where she was part of the 1999 Speedline/NFCA Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year.

Northwest Missouri State head coach Pam Knox announced her resignation to accept the head coaching position at Western Oregon.

Bethany head softball coach Jan Forsty promoted to director of athletics. Forsty, who had previously been assistant athletics director, remains the head softball coach, but steps down as head volleyball coach.

Brenda Carlson resigned as head softball coach at Southwest State to accept a position as an assistant coach at Minnesota State-Mankato.

Loyola (Illinois) promoted Jamie Gillies to head coach, replacing Stephenie Henderson. Gillies has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach.

Karin Wick hired as an assistant coach at Ball State. Wick has been head softball coach at Niles North (Illinois) High School for seven seasons and assistant cross country coach there for three seasons.

Chris Starke selected as head coach at Frostburg State. Starke has been sports information director at the school since 2000.

DePauw named Bonnie Skrenta softball coach.

Westminster named Katie Miller women's assistant basketball and softball coach.

Northwestern State selected Eileen Schmidt as head softball coach. Schmidt succeeds Ty Singleton, who accepted the head coaching position at Missouri.

Stacy Trice was hired as head coach at Wesley, succeeding Tracey Short.

Kristin Cox named head softball coach at Truman. Cox has been an assistant at Charlotte since 2000. She takes over for Kristi Bredbenner, who served as interim head coach in 2002.

Michigan State added Stephenie Henderson and Amanda Scott as assistant coaches. Henderson recently stepped down as head coach at Loyola (Ill.), where she led the squad to two regular-season Horizon League championships in three seasons. Scott, a four-time All-American pitcher at Fresno State, has spent the past year as an editorial and production intern at the Women's Sports Foundation.

Drake selected Rich Calvert as head softball coach.

Kathy Arendsen hired as head softball coach at Oregon. Arendsen has spent the last six years at Mississippi State, leading the Bulldogs to six consecutive winning seasons and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Brenda Coldren as head softball coach at Indiana State. Coldren spent the past four years as the head softball coach at Iowa Western Community College.

Toledo named Jo Ann Gordon head softball coach.

Lori Cook selected as an assistant softball coach at Texas-San Antonio.
