NCAA Division III Finals Set

Stacy Tamble tossed a two-hit shutout to lead second-seeded St. Thomas (Minn.) to a 3-0 victory over No. 3 Coe to win the Pella, Iowa Regional in the 2002 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. With the win, St. Thomas becomes the second team in three years to reach the national finals under head coach John Tschida, who led St. Mary's (Minn.) to the national title in 2000.

In the Bloomington, Illinois Regional, No.1 Lake Forest shut out No. 2 Benedictine 2-0 behind Leigh Anne Ferguson's two-hitter.

No. 2 Ithaca was declared champion of the Ithaca, New York Regional after rain washed out the final day of play. Ithaca was the lone remaining unbeaten team in the region.

The eight regional champions advance to the NCAA Division III National Championship, which begins Thursday in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
