Softball Mourns Loss of Stacy Winsberg

Stacy Winsberg, who served as strength and conditioning coach for the U.S. Women's Softball National Team at the 1999 Pan American Games and the 2000 Olympics, passed away Wednesday morning from a cerebral blood clot. Winsberg had been battling lung cancer since early fall.

In addition to her work with the U.S. National Team, Winsberg had owned Premier Sports Training and served as a conditioning consultant in Northern California. She was a licensed therapist and her clients included Olympic gold medalists, NCAA Division I athletic programs, and ASA teams and athletes.

Winsberg played collegiate softball at UCLA and was a member of three national championship teams (1982, 1984, 1985). She was also a two-time ASA All-American (1984, 1985) and competed internationally in the Tri-National Tournament (China) and Japan Cup in 1985.

In 1993, she was inducted into the Southern California Jewish Hall of Fame.
