St. Thomas's Alison Wright Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week

St. Thomas outfielder Alison Wright has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player of the Week for the week ending April 5, the association announced Wednesday.

In six games last week, Wright homered twice and batted 11-for-19 (.579) with 14 RBI and seven runs, helping St. Thomas to its No. 2 national ranking in the NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll

Wright continued torrid offensive play she began as an all-American last season, running her school-record hitting streak to 33 games dating back to April 2008, including all 22 games this season. The 33-game streak is the longest ever by an MIAC baseball or softball player and the third longest in Division III softball history.

In 22 games this season for the 20-2 Tommies, the Pewaukee, Wis., native is batting .549 with 39 hits, 28 runs, 32 RBI, 10 2Bs, seven home runs and a .986 slugging percentage.
