Fordham’s Jen Mineau Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week

Fordham freshman pitcher Jen Mineau has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week, the NFCA announced on Tuesday.

Mineau went 3-0 with three saves in six appearances last week, including a no-hitter and a perfect game. During her 19.2 innings in the circle last week, she recorded 18 strikeouts and issued just one walk.

On Tuesday, March 10, the Schaghitcoke, N.Y., native pitched a perfect game in Fordham’s 9-0 five-inning win over St. Peter’s, striking out 12 batters. She followed that performance with a complete-game win over Maryland, striking out three in the 6-2 Fordham victory.

Sunday saw Mineau become the first pitcher in Fordham history to record two no-hitters. Mineau struck out two batters and did not allow a hit against Delaware for her second no-hitter of the week. She added a one-out save vs. St. Peter’s, a one-inning save against Howard and a 1.1 inning, one-strikeout save against Seton Hall to her week’s totals.

On the year, Mineau has made 18 appearances, 11 starts, compiling a 7-4 record with four saves and a 1.40 ERA. In 75.0 innings of work, she has allowed 47 hits and 28 runs, 15 earned, while striking out 62 and walking only 17. She leads the team in wins, saves, innings pitch, strikeouts and opponent's batting average (.175).

Fordham returns to action later this week, playing Longwood and No. 18 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Wednesday.
