Texas A&M’s Holly Ridley Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week

Texas A&M right fielder Holly Ridley has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week, the NFCA announced today.

Ridley, a senior from Sugar Land, Texas, hit .625 last week as Texas A&M posted two upsets and a series win over then-No. 10 Arizona. Ridley’s 3-for-4 performance on Friday included two doubles and a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to seal the Aggies first win over the Wildcats. In Sunday’s victory over Arizona, Ridley went 3-for-3 with two more doubles and two walks to lead the Aggies to the series victory. She posted at least one hit in every game and did not strike out on the week.

Ridley’s three-run home run put the Aggies up 5-1 against Monmouth on Friday, and she was flawless in a five-inning run rule of the Hawks on Saturday, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs. In A&M’s lone loss of the week (to Arizona on Saturday), Ridley recorded an RBI double, finishing the week with 10 hits, five doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, six runs, four walks and a sacrifice fly for the week ending March 1.

The Aggies jumped from No. 21 to No. 17 in this week’s USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll.
