Clark Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week

Fresno State shortstop Christina Clark has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week of April 5-11. 

The sophomore from Santa Ana, Calif., becomes the second Bulldog to received the national honor this season. Teammate Jamie Southern took the award on March 24. 

Clark was dominating at the plate in Fresno State's series victory at Hawaii last week. She went 7-for-14 (.500), scored seven runs, drove in seven more runs and hit five home runs. With 22 total bases for the week, Clark slugged at an amazing 1.571 clip. 

Clark recorded at least one hit in all four games against the Warriors, including a pair of multiple-hit, multiple-RBI games. In the third game of the series, Clark went 3-for-4 with three home runs and four RBIs. 

With her five home runs last week, she now has 33 career long balls in less than two seasons. She ranks No. 2 in Fresno's illustrious softball history and No. 4 in the Western Athletic Conference all-time annals. 

Clark has now hit safely in 13 of her last 14 games. She leads the team with a .395 batting average , 18 home runs and 42 RBIs, and is slugging a stellar .809 for the season.
