Lock Haven's Erb Named Division II Female Athlete of Year

Lock Haven University freshman Kristin Erb has been named the Honda Award Winner as the Division II Female Athlete of the Year, as voted upon by national ballot among 1,000 NCAA member schools. The award is part of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards program, now in its 30th year.

Erb led the Lady Eagles to the NCAA Division II title, posting a 12-1 record with a 0.30 ERA in the postseason. She earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the championship to go along with Regional and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournaments MVP accolades. She was also named the PSAC West Pitcher and Rookie of the Year.

The Reading, Pa., native posted a 36-1 record, the best season in school history, including two no-hitters, 270 strikeouts, and an ERA of 0.20. Erb set school single-season marks in wins, ERA, appearances (39), games started (35), shutouts (20), innings (248) and strikeouts. Additionally, Erb maintained a .360 batting average, with 32 RBIs and 39 runs scored.

The rookie earned Louisville Slugger/NFCA First-Team All-American, a first for a freshman in the program’s history.

“I am thrilled for Kristin and all of her accomplishments this year,” LHU head coach Kelley Green said. “This award caps off an amazing freshman year, and I couldn’t be more proud to have her in our program.”

Erb received her trophy as part of the ceremony June 26 at Columbia University in New York.
