Jill Bailey Named Missouri Western Softball Coach

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Jill Bailey has been named as head softball coach at Missouri Western State College, it was announced today. The 27-year-old Bailey served as Missouri Western's interim head coach during the 1999 season, posting a 23-23 overall record and an 11-9 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association record. Her team also qualified for the MIAA's post-season tournament.

Prior to being appointed interim head coach January 20, 1999, Bailey had served as the Griffons' assistant softball coach for three seasons. In that capacity, she assisted the pitchers and catchers, aided in the recruitment of student-athletes, supervised numerous camps and organized and ran the off-season conditioning program. In addition, the native of Kansas City, Mo., has previous coaching experience as an assistant softball coach at Johnson County (Kan.) Community College during the 1995 season.

Bailey will assume full-time duties at Missouri Western August 1.
