Tootle To Lead Columbus State Program

Columbus State University (Columbus, Georgia) has announced the hiring of Tiffany Tootle as the school's head softball coach.

Tootle, who leaves North Florida Community College in Madison, FL, is the third coach in CSU softball history. Tootle, a former standout player at the University of South Carolina, has led the NFCC program since its inception in 1997. In just two seasons, the Lady Sentinels have compiled a record of 82-39-2, an average of 41 wins per year. In 1999, her squad finished 42-17-2, good enought for second in the conference and fifth in the state of Florida. "I am very excited about coming to the four-year level and especially to a tremendous program like CSU," said Tootle. "This school is always a top contender, not only in the conference but on the national level as well."

As a player, Tootle was an All-American shortstop for three straight seasons. She holds NCAA career records for hits (351) and runs scored (207) and she was named NCAA Woman of the Year for the state of South Carolina in 1993. A native of Reidsville, Georgia, Tootle also has served as an assistant coach at Trenton State College in Trenton, NJ, and as an assistant coach at Spring Valley High School, Columbia, South Carolina. Columbus State University is a member of NCAA Division II.
