Concordia (TX) Freshman Jordan Berry Named NFCA Division III Player of the Week
Concordia (TX) outfielder Jordan Berry has been named the NFCA Division III National Player of the Week for games played February 28-March 6, the Association has announced. The freshman had a breakthrough week to help the Tornados split their four games at the American Southwest Conference First-Pitch tournament.
The College Station, Texas, native batted .636 with seven hits and three RBIs, which included going a combined 5-for-5 against nationally-ranked Louisiana College and Texas-Tyler on the first day of action. Berry also drove in the eventual game-winning run in an 8-7 win over Texas-Dallas before adding another hit in the 4-0 victory against Ozarks.
Berry improved her season batting average to .323. She is also among the team leaders in several other offensive categories, including hits (10), walks (5), doubles (2), on-base percentage (.417) and slugging percentage (.387). In addition, she has not committed an error in 12 appearances and 11 starts this season.
Berry was also named the ASC West Division Hitter of the Week. Concordia, which has only lost to teams that advanced to last year's NCAA tournament, is now 7-5 on the season.
