Alabama-Huntsville Becomes First Unanimous No. 1 of 2011 In Latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll

Alabama-HuntsvilleSTARKVILLE, Miss. – Alabama-Huntsville garnered all 16 first-place votes in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 poll that was released by the Association on Wednesday to become the first unanimous top-ranked team of 2011.

The Chargers (35-1-1) went 7-0 last week at the Gulf South crossover and have now won 22 consecutive games. Midwestern State (38-4) held tight at second, while North Georgia (43-9) also stayed put at third. Valdosta State finished the poll at fourth, while Rollins (37-2) was fifth, cracking the top five at fifth for the first time in program history.

Only two teams fell out of the rankings this week, with No. 20 Arkansas-Monticello exiting the fray for the first time this season and No. 25 Cal State Chico leaving the poll after only one week. Lewis re-debuted in the poll this week at 21st after a five-week absence, while West Virginia Wesleyan returned to the rankings at 25th after two weeks away from the rankings.

The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
