NFCA Announces 2011-2012 NFCC Schedule

NFCCSTARKVILLE, Miss. – A behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation’s most elite softball programs is just one of the highlights of the 2011-2012 National Fastpitch Coaches College schedule that was released by the Association on Thursday.

This year’s slate of NFCC courses will feature the latest evolution of the NFCC and give coaches a rare glimpse into the day-to-day operations of one of the most storied softball programs in the history of the game. Course 406: Dynamic Team Practices is designed to help coaches produce the most time-efficient, but effective practices possible and this year they will get to see first-hand how its done by one of the most accomplished and respected coaches in the game.

Michigan head coach and NFCA Hall Famer Carol Hutchins will pull away the curtain and allow participants to view how a Wolverine practice is not only planned, but executed as well. After watching the practice, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions of Coach Hutchins and her staff on things they saw during the practice.

Along with Hutchins, Louisville Associate Head Coach Carol Bruggeman and NFCA Hall of Famer, Cindy Bristow, will lead participants in the classroom portion of the course, as well as discuss observations from practice. Course 406 will be offered Oct. 7-9 on Michigan's campus in Ann Arbor.

In addition to the new concept being unveiled in Ann Arbor, three NFCC classes will be offered around the annual NFCA Convention. One course will be offered before this year’s convention in Las Vegas Nov. 27-29, while two will follow the event Dec. 3-5. Convention-goers who arrive early will be able to attend Course 402: Advanced Analysis of Hitting, Pitching & Short-Game Skills and those who want to stay a few days after the festivities will have their choice of attending Course 401: The Art of Championship Coaching or Course 407: Winning strategies for Game-Day Coaching.

Also returning to the schedule this year is Course 408: Coaching & Game Observation which will take place from May 31-June 2 at the 2012 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. The course gives participants the opportunity to not only watch college softball’s premier event in person, but allows them the chance to ask participating coaches about their in-game decisions following the contest.

There will also be two other opportunities to attend a NFCC course next year, with offerings in Minnesota & Ohio. On Oct. 21-23, the NFCC will bring Course 404: Solid Team Defense & Strategy to Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minn., and on Nov. 4-6 it will offer Course 405: Explosive Team Offense & Strategy in Columbus, Ohio at Ohio Dominican University.

All seven courses will feature instruction from some of the biggest names is softball including current college coaches, NFCA Hall of Famers, master clinicians and more. In addition, all courses, with the exception of 401, will feature a practical application aspect where discussion in the classroom will lead to on-field demonstrations and drills.

Since its founding in 2002, the NFCC has been one of the cornerstones of the NFCA’s pledge to help continually educate softball coaches of all levels. Completion of the eight-course curriculum earns participants the title of Four-Star Master Coach and also accounts for the majority of on-line coursework towards a master’s degree in coaching from Texas Woman’s University.
