NFCA MaxPreps Awards for the Week Ending June 6th
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Junior Cassandra Kohler of Valley Central High School in Montgomery, N.Y., and sophomore Chloe Eshenbaugh of Montineau High School in West Sunbury, Pa., have both been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through June 6th, 2011.
From the East Region, Kohler went 2-0 in the circle last week while only allowing one earned run in 17 innings of work. Against Kingston the junior struck out seven to earn her fifth shutout of the year, improving her record to 11-3. For the season Kohler owns a 1.89 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .199 batting average. With the wins last week the Vikings improve to 14-2 in conference, 19-3 overall.
Representing the North Region, Eshenbaugh hit .800 last week with five RBI, four runs-scored and a home run. Her efforts at the plate helped her team to two big victories over Cranberry Area and Langley. On the season the sophomore is hitting .567, has a slugging percentage of .883 and has only struck out once this season in 69 plate appearances. With the wins, the 7th ranked Warriors improved to 8-0 in league and 17-1 on the season.
