Jenny Topping's solo home run to lead off the second inning gave the No. 1 ranked Huskies a 1-0 win over Fresno and the 2000 Leadoff Classic Championship. Topping, who was named the Cassic Outstanding Player, hit five home runs in this year's LOC and has 13 for the season, tying Jen Cline's school single-season record. UW's 39 home runs ties the all-time team record set in 1995. The win brings Washington's overall record to 24-1 while Fresno State drops to 15-5.

Melissa Gentle's RBI single in the ninth inning lifted the Wolverines to a 2-1 win over Arizona State. ASU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth on Erica Beach's run-scoring single. Michigan tied the game in the last of the eighth on an ASU error. Marie Barda (nine innings, six hits, one walk, three strikeouts) got the win for Michigan.

Stanford's Kellie Wiginton's second-inning two-run home run broke a 1-all tie and boosted the Cardinal. Wiginton was 2-4 whil Jessica Mendoza (3-4) and Jenni Shihdeler (3-3) were key cogs for Stanford.

Winning pitcher Kirsten Voak starred in the circle (seven innings, four hits, no walks, eight K's) and at the plate (2-3, single, double, 3 RBI). Voak has not allowed a run in 23 2/3 tournament innings and is 3-0 in tourney play. ASU's Missy Hixon was 3-4 and Erica Beach was 1-3 with a two-run homer.

Marissa Young knocked in three runs, including two with a first-inning single, to spark the Wolverines into the consolation game of the Gold Bracket. Young was 2-3 with three RBI as a batter and limited Texas to three hits whie walking two and K'ing 10 in the circle.

Lora Pinkerton's two-run fourth-inning homer broke open a 2-1 game. Florida's Jenn Cordero was 3-3, all singles, with an RBI.

Jessica Luna drove in two runs with a pair of singles to pace Hofstra. Winning pitcher Kelly Blois allowed just three hits, all singles, while walking five and striking out five.

First-inning RBI singles by Kiley Schofield, Ashley Bakken and Rachel Parziale lifted UMass to the early lead. UMass' Teri Rooney was 4-4 with three runs scored. Carrie Jeffries gave up four hhits, two walks and struck out four.

Fresno State scored the game's only run on two Oklahoma errors in the fifth inning. OU managed just one hit off Amanda Scott, Kelli Braitsch's infield single in the second. Scott walked none and struck out eight. OU's Jennifer Stewart was nearly as effective, allowing five hits, one unearned run, walking one and striking out nine. Becky Witt was 2-4 for Fresno.

Freshman sensation Jaime Clark cracked a two-run, third-inning double to lift the Huskies into a lead they never relinquished. Rosie Leutzinger's run-scoring single in the sixth iced the cake for the No. 1 ranked Huskies. Winning pitcher Jamie Graves allowed six hits but no runs while walking one and fanning five.

Pinch-hitter Paula Garman came thorugh in the biggest possible way, wiping out a 3-0 deficit with a grand slam homer in the sixth to boost the Cowgirls into the championship game of the Bronze Bracket.

DePaul scored the game's only run in the sixth. Shavaughne Desecki led off the inning with a single and scored all the way from first when Dana Jakusz reached base on an error. Freshman Lindsay Chuinard allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out four.
