June 13 Is World Softball Day

June 12 is World Softball Day!PLANT CITY, Fla. - June 13 will mark the eighth straight year that “World Softball Day” is celebrated globally. The occasion coincides with the date in 1991 when the International Olympic Committee announced that women’s fastpitch softball would be added to the programme of the Summer Olympics, beginning with the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

Each year, the International Softbal Federation encorages the softball community to stage special events in conjunction with World Softball Day, to both celebrate the occasion as well as raise the profile of the sport. The ISF and the NFCA wanr to engage the worldwide softball community via Facebook and Twitter in relation to World Softball Day as well. Please go to the NFCA Facebook page or the ISF Facebook pageand make a wall post telling us how and where you are celebrating World Softball Day.  Twitter users are encouraged to tag their WSD-related tweets with the hashtags #WorldSoftballDay and #nfca. The ISF will later publish a recap, including photos, of World Softball Day activities from around the world.
