NFCA Announces 2012 NFCA High School All-Region Teams

STARKVILLE, Miss. – This year, 159 student-athletes from 92 high schools spanning 28 states have earned the distinguished honor of being named to one of 10 2012 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-Region teams.

Ohio Division II state champions Keystone led the nation in first-team selection in 2012 with four from the North Region. After falling in the state title game last season, the Wildcats retuned with a vengeance this season to not only capture the program’s third state championship, but to end the season as the state’s only undefeated team at 32-0

While Keystone led the country in first-team honorees, Olathe East (Kan.) and Walla Walla (Wash) were the nation’s leaders in overall selections with five each.

The Hawks of Olathe East captured their seventh state championship and first since 2007 this season and completed the year with a record of 24-1. For its efforts, Olathe East was rewarded with three South Central first-team selections and two second-team honorees.

Walla Walla also had five players honored this season with one student-athlete placed on the West Region first team and four on the second team. The Blue Devils (26-2) fell just short of the WIAA Class 4A state title this season, losing to undefeated Woodinville in the finals.

All players who were selected to one of the five first teams in their respective region are now eligible to be named as either a 2012 NFCA First-Team, Second-Team or Honorable Mention High School All-American. The 2012 NFCA High School All-American teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 26 on NFCA.org.
