Rifle’s Emma Speer Named MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Based on outstanding efforts stretching from September 10-17, the NFCA has tabbed junior Emma Speer of Rifle High School in Rifle, Colo., as the MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for September 17.
In helping her squad to a 3-2 week, the shortstop was a staggering 14-for-20 at the plate for a .700 batting average to go along with 10 runs scored, a double, two HR’s and 11 total RBIs.
Included in her impressive efforts was a perfect 5-for-5 performance while getting hit by a pitch, scoring six runs and registering four RBIs during a 24-3 rout of Montezuma Cortez (Colo.), a 3-for-4 output with a two-run HR, two tallies and three RBI in an 11-8 victory over Durango (Colo.) and a 3-5 effort with a HR, four RBIs and a walk-off RBI double during a 9-8, comeback triumph over Montezuma Cortez (Colo.).
Thus far this season for the 7-4-1 Bears, Speer is hitting .548 overall with 21 runs scored, an .881 slugging percentage, four HR’s and 18 RBIs.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.

Coaches who enter their team’s stats on Max Preps will not only be nominating their players for this award, but they will be getting their team’s information out to thousands of high school sports fans, as well as college coaches across the country.
