Archer’s Nani Cabrales Named MaxPreps/NFCA H.S. Player of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In helping lead her Archer High School squad to the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class 6A state title, senior Nani Cabrales has been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for October 29.
The pitcher/first baseman was outstanding from the circle during the state tourney for the 33-7 Tigers, posting a 4-0 record, a 0.47 ERA and 28 strikeouts while tossing all 30 possible innings during the title run. At the plate, Cabrales registered a .308 batting average (4-for-13) with three walks and three RBIs.
During a 3-2 (9 inn.) victory in the semifinals over Collins Hill (GA), Cabrales allowed just four hits, no earned runs and struck out 10, while also going 1-for-3 with a walk. The previous day against Lassiter (GA), she fired a three-hit shutout with nine K’s and knocked in a pair of runs as Archer prevailed, 3-0.
For the season Cabrales was 23-4 from the circle with a 1.23 ERA, 25 complete games and 184 strikeouts over 182.2 innings of work. At the dish she posted a .380 mark with 20 runs scored, 11 doubles, five HR’s and 31 RBIs.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
