North Dakota State's Nikki Flynn-Gregg Breaks Two NCAA II Records Sunday

April 2, 2000, is a day North Dakota State shortstop Nikki Flynn-Gregg will never forget.

Flynn-Gregg, a senior from Esko, Minn., became the NCAA Division II career runs and hits leader Sunday as she helped lead North Dakota State to the championship of the University of Nebraska-Omaha Tournament. After tying the runs record the day before against Augustana (SD), Flynn-Gregg scored her record breaking 242nd run against Washburn. Then in the tournament championship game against Augustana, Flynn-Gregg recorded her 375th career hit for her second record breaker of the day.

The two records Flynn-Gregg broke were both previously held by players from Wisconsin-Parkside. Jessie Johnson (1994-97) held the record for career runs, while Jackie Aiken (1994-97) had been the career hits leader.

Flynn-Gregg has a shot at breaking a third Division II career record this year. She has over 200 career stolen bases and is within striking distance of the current record of 219, held by Cheryl Bogues of North Carolina Central (1990-93).
