Sonoma St.'s Purdy, Wilmington (Del.)’s Warrington Reap Louisville Slugger NFCA DII Nat'l Player/Pitcher of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ancia Purdy of Sonoma State and Katie Warrington of Wilmington University (Delaware) have been chosen as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 6, respectively.

A sophomore shortstop for the Seawolves, Purdy helped her squad to a 4-2 record last week, going 13-for-22 at the plate (.591) with six runs scored, two triples, three RBIs and eight stolen bases.  The reigning California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Player of the Week, she sported a .609 on-base percentage and a .773 slugging percentage, was errorless in 19 defensive chances at short and managed the walk-off RBI single during a 5-4, Saturday triumph over Cal State East Bay.

Senior pitcher Warrington registered a perfect 4-0 mark from the circle with a pair of shutouts, a 0.54 ERA and three complete games while allowing the opposition to hit at just a .169 clip.  The Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Pitcher of the Week struck out an incredible 53 batters over just 26 innings and registered double-digit K’s in each of her four appearances.  Included was a 17-strikeout effort during a 6-0 win over Felician and 14 K’s in an 8-0 victory over Immaculata.

Jillian Stafford of Wilmington Univ. (Delaware) hit .441 with 15 hits (five doubles), 12 RBIs and 20 total bases in 10 total contests…Concordia-St. Paul’s Ashley Kluever extended her scoreless streak to 27 innings, going 3-0 with two one-hitters and a two-hitter at the Rebel Spring Games while striking out 28 in 19 frames in picking up NSIC Pitcher of the Week honors…Minnesota Duluth’s Kierra Jeffers hit .714 (5-for-7) with a double, a triple and five RBIs…Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Mindy McElroy was 3-0 for the Savage Storm with a 0.77 ERA and a save in 18.2 innings of effort…Midwestern State’s Kat Batey hurled the fourth perfect game in her school’s history and totaled 10 K’s in 11 innings during the week…West Alabama’s Rebecca Schick was 5-for-7 (.714) with three HR’s and nine RBIs in earning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week…NYIT’s Monet Ormsby batted .667 (8-for-12) with four runs, three steals and seven RBIs while also going 2-0 from the circle…Ally Dziadula of Central Oklahoma earned MIAA Hitter of the Week accolades after posting a .571 average (8-for-14)…Victoria Wink of Adelphi batted .636 (7-for-11) with two doubles, a HR and seven RBIs in earning Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Week…Peach Belt Player of the Week Brea Hartley of UNC Pembroke hit .550 with two HR’s and seven RBIs.
