Five Unranked Teams Jump Into Division III Top 25 But Montclair State Remains No. 1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Five previously unranked teams made the jump into this week's NFCA Division III Top 25 poll with No. 14 Piedmont (12-2) making the largest advancement, followed by No. 18 Simpson (17-3), No. 19 Coe (13-1), No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (11-6) and No. 25 College of New Jersey (4-1).

No. 1 Montclair State opened the season a perfect 4-0 this past week to retain its No. 1 ranking. The top five also included No. 2 Emory (25-1, previously No. 4), Texas-Tyler (13-1) at No. 3, Illinois Wesleyan (4-1) at No. 4 and NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic Gold bracket champion Trine (11-1) to round out the top five.

Eastern Connecticut held steady in the sixth position this week while No. 7 Luther (1-1) dropped five spots. Tufts dropped three spots to eighth while Linfield (2-2) and Plattsburgh State tied at No. 9 to close out the top 10.

Redlands (12-4) and Christopher Newport (10-5) occupy Nos. 11 and No. 12 respectively, while previously No. 25 ranked East Texas Baptist University (12-2) jumped an impressive 12 spots to 13th. Piedmont (12-2) entered the poll at No. 14 following its strong showing at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic and Carthage (4-0) moved up three spots to round out the top 15.

No. 16 St. Thomas (6-2) and No. 17 Salisbury (12-2) are joined in this week’s top 25 by both previously unranked Simpson (17-3, No. 18) and Coe (13-1, No. 19), while Rowan holds steady at 20th.

Positions 21-25 include Moravian (8-2), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (11-6), Roanoke (9-3), Washington University (Missouri) (13-2) and the College of New Jersey (4-1).
