Colo. School of Mines’ Ford, Minot State’s Greenberg Reap Louisville Slugger NFCA DII National Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cassie Ford of No. 13 Colorado School of Mines and Mandy Greenberg of Minot State have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 20, respectively.

A sophomore designated player for the Orediggers, Ford batted 9-for-12 (.750) last week while registering a pair of doubles, three walks, three HR’s, six runs scored and 10 RBIs against Regis (Colo.) and Metro State.  She registered at least two hits and three RBIs in three out of four contests while slugging at a 1.667 clip and posting a .800 on-base percentage.  During her finest effort of the week in a 13-10 win over Metro State, Ford posted a career-high four hits in five at-bats with three runs scored, two HR’s and a career-high-equaling four RBIs.  The reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week currently leads Colorado School of Mines with a .429 batting average and nine doubles to go along with five HR’s and 24 RBIs.

The current Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week, Greenberg starred for Minot State at the National Training Center Tournament in Clermont, Fla., by registering a 5-0 record with two saves, a 0.42 ERA and 56 strikeouts over just 32.2 innings of work.  Perhaps her finest effort of the week came during a 7-1 victory over Alderson-Broaddus as the Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, native struck out a season-high 14 batters despite allowing a single tally to end her consecutive scoreless inning streak to begin the year at a remarkable 37 straight frames.  For the season the senior pitcher is 9-0 overall with a miniscule 0.26 ERA, three shutouts and 100 strikeouts over 54.2 frames of effort while allowing the opposition to hit at just a .154 clip.
