Outstanding Division II Player Performances

Erica Miller, Bloomsburg, Junior, Shortstop (Williamsport, PA)

Erica Miller hit .562 last week (9-16) with a homer and seven RBI. Scored seven runs while also getting three doubles and two triples. Had a slugging percentage of 1.250 for the week. In a doubleheader with Caldwell College, Miller was 4-8 with four runs scored, 4 RBI, two doubles, a triple and a homer.

Katie Roberts, Southern Indiana, Junior, Pitcher (Lafayette, IN)

Katie Roberts threw three shutouts -- decreasing her season ERA to 0.91 -- and registered four wins last week as the Eagles went 6-0 and remained the only unbeaten team in the GLVC. On Thursday at McKendree College, Roberts pitched a three hitter and struck out nine. On Saturday versus Quincy University, she pitched another complete game shutout (4 hits, 4 Ks) as the Eagles broke the school record for consecutive wins (currently at 16). Roberts then picked up the relief win in game two against Quincy, pitching two innings and striking out three. On Sunday, she tossed a two hit shutout against the University of Missouri-St. Louis in game one and pitched 1 2/3 innings in game two without surrendering a run. Roberts has now thrown 37 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings for the Eagles. She also had a productive week at the plate, batting .333 with four RBIs (two of them game-winning) and three doubles.

Karissa Hoehn, St. Cloud State, Senior, Pitcher (Stillwater, MN)

Overall, Hoehn charted a 5-0 record with 66 strikeouts to her credit. She allowed no runs last week and no earned runs. She gave up only 19 hits in 40.1 innings of work, and only three extra base hits during that stretch. Hoehn pitched one-hit shutouts against Southwest State and MSU, Mankato, striking out 16 against MSU, Mankato. She struck out 14 in a three-hit shutout over St. Benedict. Hoehn posted 12 strikeouts and 11 strikeouts in complete game 1-0 shutouts over Winona State. Hoehn had the game winning RBI in one of the wins over Winona State. She was also 3-of-4 with a double and two RBIs in the doubleheader against Southwest State. So far this season, Hoehn has a 17-1 record with a 0.17 ERA in 127.0 innings of work. She has 219 strikeouts to her credit this season and has allowed only three earned runs in 2000. She now ranks third on the Division II all-time list with 1,158 career strikeouts. She only trails Kathy Slaten, Cal-State Northridge (1983-86) 1,537 and Missy Paterson, Coker (1996-99) 1,474. She moves ahead of Sacred Heart's Debbie Tidy, who had 1,080 strikeouts from 1984-87.

Desiree Croteau, Saint Leo, Junior, Pitcher (Wesley Chapel, FL)

Desiree Croteau went 2-0 with 12 strikeouts and a 0.50 ERA in three appearances over the weekend. The junior from Wesley Chapel, FL threw a no-hitter in the team's 2-0 Sunshine State Conference victory over the University of Tampa on Sunday afternoon. Croteau struck out three, walked one and hit one batter in throwing the third no-hitter of her career. For the weekend, she allowed one run on four hits over a total of 14 innings pitched. At the plate, Croteau went 4-for-8 with a double, a home run, one run scored and three RBIs. Croteau is 18-5 with a 0.72 ERA and 166 strikeouts this season. She is also the team's top hitter with a season average of .393 and a team-leading 19 RBIs.

Kelly Connolly, Augustana (SD), Senior, Pitcher (St. Paul, MN)

Kelly Connolly helped her team to a 6-1 record for the week through her pitching efforts and equally as much with her hitting performance. She had 10 at bats, 10 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and two doubles. In the game against NDSU (4-1 W), Connolly was 3-3 and had a double, along with 10 strikeouts for the win. Connolly’s ERA for the five games was 0.45.

Regan Hanes, Cal State Bakersfield, Senior, Second Base (Yucaipa, CA)

Regan Hanes led the Roadrunners to a pair of doubleheader sweeps over Cal State, San Bernardino and UC Riverside last week. She finished the week hitting .538 (7 for 13) with a double and five RBI. She was a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI in a week-ending win over UC Riverside, and was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the first game of the twin bill.

Jenny Brown, Cal State Stanislaus, Junior, Pitcher (Turlock, CA)

Jenny Brown earned her third California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Week honor of 2000 with a pair of shutout wins at San Francisco State and Sonoma State last week. She also pitched three innings of shutout relief and in 17 total innings pitched, Brown gave up no runs, seven hits and four walks and struck out 16. In the 1-0 win at SFSU, Brown yielded just two hits and two walks, and struck out eight. The next day, Brown gave up three hits and a walk while striking out three in a 5-0 win at Sonoma.

Kenda Mayes, Arkansas-Monticello, Pitcher

Kenda Mayes tossed her first career perfect game in a 7-0 win over Henderson State. The performance was the sixth perfect game by a Gulf South Conference player and the second in conference action.
