Team IMPACT Uses the Power of Teamwork to Help Improve Sick Children's Quality of Life

As a big believer in the power of teamwork and giving back to the community, Williams College head coach and longtime NFCA member Kris Herman originally helped set up the charitable organization Team IMPACT with the goal of trying to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening chronic illnesses.

How would that goal be accomplished?  By encouraging sports teams to open up their ranks and allow those affected kids to become a part of the squad in hopes of enhancing their quality of life.  Through that mission, the team would then become a big part of the support group, extending their laughter, strength and love throughout the child’s medical journey and even beyond.

Originally started in the Northeast, Team IMPACT is now working on expanding into other areas through the Mid-Atlantic (DE, MD, VA, WV, NC) and the Midwest (OH, IN, IL, MI) regions with an overall goal of continuing to grow its reach throughout the country.

Marty Dobrow of ESPNBoston.com recently wrote a terrific feature highlighting some of the special bonds forged throughout the relationships fostered by Team IMPACT.  Please take a few minutes to read through some of the incredible stories he discovered at the following link ("A World of Courage and Connection: Team IMPACT Unites Sick Kids, College Athletes" by Marty Dobrow ESPNBoston.com) and make sure to visit GoTeamIMPACT.org for more information on how to have your team participate in such a worthy endeavor.  To read a feature story that was originally included in the NFCA's Fastpitch Delivery newspaper on Kris Herman and her charitable work as well as her coaching career, please visit this link.
