Northern Ascends to No. 1 In Latest USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Northern (Md.) unseated previous No. 1 Amador Valley (Calif.) to climb to the top of the latest USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 poll that was released by the Association on Thursday.

The Patriots moved into the pole position by winning its only contest last week, pushing their season record to a perfect 6-0.

Coming in at second this week was Bishop O’Connell (Va.), which slid up one spot in the rankings via its untarnished 8-0 mark. John Curtis (La.) climbed a single position to third, while previous No. 1 Amador Valley (Calif.) dropped to No. 4. Rated sixth last week, Logan (Calif.) improved one slot to round out the latest top five.

Making its 2013 debut in the latest listing was previously unranked and 24-1 Barbers Hill (Texas) at No. 24, while Immaculate Heart (N.J.) re-entered the poll in 25th following its solid three-victory week.

The USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 poll is compiled by state representatives from across the country.  Records for this week’s poll include all games played through April 9, 2013.
