Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Player of the Week

UCLA pitcher Amanda Freed is this week's Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Player of the Week.

Freed, a sophomore, earned all three victories for the Bruins against Oregon (6-0) and Oregon State (4-1, 8-7) last week, pitching 20 of a possible 21 innings. She struck out 21 batters and held opponents to a .174 batting average while allowing five earned runs as the Bruins remained the only team undefeated in Pac-10 play.

Freed started the weekend by pitching a two-hitter against Oregon, holding the Ducks hitless during the final six innings. She started on Saturday against Oregon State, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out four. At the plate, she hit .455 (5-for-11) with three runs scored, two doubles and an RBI. In Sunday's game, the only one of the weekend in which she was not the starting pitcher, she went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Earlier this week, Freed was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week and UCLA Met-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week.
