Teams Advance to Championship Play in Round Rock NFCA Top Recruit Tournament

TRTshirtRound Rock, Texas – June 22, 2013 – The Oklahoma Athletics – Childers knocked off two teams Saturday evening in close matchups (6-5, 8-7) to advance to the championship game of the 16U gold bracket at the NFCA Round Rock Top Recruit Tournament. The Athletics will face fellow two-game winner MC Elite Gold at 11:00 a.m. Sunday to determine the champion of the 16U gold bracket.

The Athletics knocked off the Texas Blaze Red and TX Bombers STX to advance, while MC Elite Gold took down the Oklahoma Twisters and Oklahoma Attack.

Starting the day in the 16U gold bracket at 9 a.m. will be the Texas Freeze Whittington (fell to TX Bombers STX) against the Oklahoma Attack (fell to MC Elite Gold). Also starting the day will be Texas Blaze Red (fell to Oklahoma Athletics) against Texas Blaze – Bonola (fell to Oklahoma Twisters).

In the 16U silver bracket, the semi final games will begin at 9 a.m. with Team TFS Texas against Texas Pride Sattler. TFS took down Out of Control and Texas Pride knocked off Alliance 16U to advance. Also starting the day in the silver bracket will be the Ace of Diamonds (defeated MLAB Lightning) and Tri-County X-Plosion (defeated Texas Stix – Escamilla).

Alliance 16U will face MLAB Lighting and Out of Control will face the Texas Stix – Escamilla. Both games will take place at 11 a.m.

In the 18U bracket championship game, starting at 11 a.m., the Dallas Tigers Gold Hernandez (defeated LA Maniax and Texas Blaze Gold Slimp) will face the Oklahoma Athletics Gold (defeated South Texas Kaos and Texas Stix Silver). Both the Tigers and Athletics are undefeated in the tournament thus far.

In the 18U gold consolation bracket, Sunday will start with the Texas Blaze against the Texas Stix Silver and the Texas Blaze Gold – Slimp against the TX Misfits. All four teams fell in the first round of the gold bracket.

Team TFS Texas and Groove 18U both earned two victories Saturday evening to meet up at 11 a.m. Sunday for the 18U silver bracket championship. Team TFS knocked off Texas Elite – Baker and North Texas Zoom to reach the finals, while Groove 18U defeated the Oklahoma Twisters 3n2 Gold and RGV Thunder Gold to earn their spot.

Starting the day in the silver bracket at 9 a.m. will be two consolation games featuring the Texas RBI Elite 9 against the Texas Force – Shahan, as well as North Texas Zoom against RGV Thunder Gold.

In the bronze 18U bracket, the Texas Challengers Gold will face the Texas Terror 18U after both teams earned two victories Saturday evening to advance to the championship game of the bronze bracket. Texas Challengers Gold defeated RGV Heat and Texas Attitude en route to the finals, while the Texas Terror 18U knocked off the Austin Stars Gold and Texas Reign Fastpitch 18U to earn their place.

The Oklahoma Machine Gold and Texas Reign Fastpitch 18U will face off at 9 a.m. Sunday morning in a consolation game. Along with them will be the Texas Attitude and Texas Crossfire at 9 a.m. as well.

The copper bracket features just two games on Sunday with the first beginning at 11 a.m. featuring the Texas Lightning Gold and Starz Gold. Both teams suffered a loss Saturday evening to reach the consolation game.

In the championship of the copper 18U bracket, Texas Nitro will face off against Texas Impact, also at 11 a.m.
