Wheat Ridge’s Salbato Named MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jessica Salbato of Wheat Ridge High School in Wheat Ridge Colo., has been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for games stretching from September 16-22.
Salbato batted .727 for the week (8-for-11) with five runs scored, three walks, a double, a triple and nine RBIs. In the circle the senior pitcher/first baseman recorded a perfect 4-0 mark with a no-hitter and a 0.00 ERA, allowing just seven total hits while striking out 25 over 20 innings of work. Her finest effort at the plate came during a 15-0 rout of Evergreen (Colo.) as Salbato was 3-for-3 with a pair of tallies, a double, a HR and five RBIs. She struck out nine in tossing her first no-hitter of the campaign during an 8-0 win over Conifer (Colo.).
On the season Salbato is batting .395 with 16 RBIs, while in possession of a 10-1 pitching record to go along with a 1.68 ERA and 62 K’s over 75 frames of effort.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
