Dunnellon High School wins NFCA High School CSOY honors

Dunnellon High School (Florida) closed out the 2009 softball awards with the coaching staff of head coach Kevin Fagan and assistant coach Susan Williams capturing the NFCA High School National Coaching Staff of the Year honors, the NFCA announced on Wednesday.

Dunnellon finished 32-1 overall, while winning the Florida Class 4A state championship. The Tigers defeated Lake Wales 3-1 in the championship game. For Dunnellon, it was the school's first state championship in a girls' sport since basketball won the 1986 championship.

In the postseason, Dunnellon outscored its opposition, 50-1.

Prior to winning the national honors, Dunnellon captured the South Region CSOY honors.

South Central Region -- Pearland High School (Pearland, Texas) -- Head Coach: Laneigh Clark; Associate Head Coach: Michele Hayden; Assistant Coach: Lori Boyd.

West Region -- Rancho Bernardo High School (San Diego, California) -- Head Coach: Steve Kuptz; Assistant Coaches: Rick Lysander, Summer Downs, Tracy Stowe, Alan Stockton, Steve Young, Jean Young; Student Assistant Coach: Jamie Childers.
